I have acquired an ancient Nicolet Impact 400 FT-IR... *without*
PC card interface or PC software.
The FT-IR hardware seems functional. That is, the mirrors scan on power
up and the scanning stops if the HeNe laser beam is interrupted as
expected.
Nicolet, now Thermo something refuses to provide any support at all.
I am looking for copys of instrument manuals and a PC card interface for
this instrument.
I am prepared to reverse engineer the interface and design a new PC card
and write my own software to control and log the spectra if necessary.
The control and data pathways are carried over a 50 pin ribbon wire to the
PC. I suspect that this interface may be of the SCSI type but I have not
confirmed this.
Any feedback on this post will be gratefully received. Thank you.
