Is there an easy and cheap way to make liquid chlorine in sufficient
quantites to treat a 50,000 gallon pool?

Now, kiddies, go ahead and say buy it.

How about chlorine gas? I am aware of the dangers.

There are devices one can buy or make that generate chlorine
electrochemically for swimming pools. I don't have the
details. If you go this route, keep the electrical dangers
in mind.
