Method for estimating phenol in urine sample by Gas Chromatograph?

hi,
Im a MSc. student from Mumbai. I want to use Gas Chromatograph for
estimating phenol in urine samples. I want to know the exact method
for estimating phenol in urine sample by gas chromatography. Shall I
directly use urine samples or there is need to standardize those
samples with a solvent? Just i want to know the method of sample

You don't want to inject urine samples directly into a GC, unless
you want to get stuck with the repair bill!

As an MSc student, I will assume you are familiar with how to
search for scientific papers; you'll find relevant methods in
the industrial hygiene and occupational safety literature, such
as a paper by Van Roosmalen, Purdham and I. Drummond (old, but
should be effective and has the benefit of not requiring expensive
accessories such as a fancy head-space sampler!) Look for a method
which uses an internal standard for better quantitative results.

If your graduate training has not yet included an information
search course, your university's reference librarians should be
good people to talk to!

Note that, whichever method you end up using, you will need to
optimize the conditions for your GC, column, etc. before analysing
your samples.
